Pioneers is an audio play developed by Alyona Larionova which tells the story of two teenage sisters who find shelter in a small room from the dangers looming outside. In facing their fear, the sisters discover that the only route to safety is to remember a story that predates language.

It's was installed at Turf Projects in London as a part of ALPHABET, an exhibition by Alyona Larionova.
Alphabet was created as a response to the global pandemic and the systemic injustices it has shown. It is a joint project between the artist and Croydon's youth collective Art Press. The project looks into how social isolation affects young people and gives them a way to add their own stories to global stories about things like climate change and the pandemic.
